Meet Sylvia Wilson

Sylvia Wilson

Chef Sylvia started decorating cakes, literally, by accident. After a car accident resulted in two broken wrists and physical therapy working with clay, she discovered fondant while watching a Food Network Cake Challenge. Her clay sculptures were quickly replaced by edible ones and an extreme cake artist was born.

Sylvia entered her first competition in early 2008 and took multiple wins at That Takes the Cake Show in Austin, Texas. Her Golden Dragon sculpted cake had the distinction of taking the Best in Show award. Sylvia was given the chance of a lifetime in 2011 to appear on Food Network Challenge, Star Wars episode. Her team took home first place, and had the unique opportunity to replicate the cake at the opening of the Star Tours ride at Disney World. Since then, she has won over 50 medals at competitions around the United States. Sylvia has also been featured on the cover of American Cake Decorating Magazine and has appeared in over 10 issues of various cake and culinary magazines

Sylvia's passion for competing in cake competitions is matched only by her passion to learn more about the industry and pass on that knowledge to others. She holds a degree in Culinary Arts, is a Certified Culinarian, and she teaches classes throughout the year. There is virtually no request that she cannot reproduce in cake, and she is always ready to take on new challenges.
